One hundred and forty bats in five sizes, from a 7.9-inch wingspan down to a 3.1-inch one. The size range is the whole trick: large bats low and close, small bats high and far, and the wall reads as depth rather than a flat row of stickers.

Each bat ships flat. Fold the wings to the angle you want before you mount it — a shallow fold for a bat at rest, a sharp one for a bat mid-flight — and it stands off the surface rather than lying against it. They go up on anything smooth and dry: painted walls, cabinet doors, windows, mirrors, the side of a bookcase.

The adhesive strips are reusable, and PVC means they are unbothered by a damp bathroom or a porch. When the season is over they lift off; warm the strip with a hairdryer if one is stubborn, and clear any residue with a little alcohol.
